You know how much I love banana bread. Today, I bring you a variation of this classic that I promise you’ll instantly fall in love with. My advice is to just double up the ingredients from the start, as tasting this heavenly banana bread will only leave you wanting more.
This banana bread delivers a classic combination of chocolate and banana. The heros of this banana cake are, of course, the bananas and the chocolate. Just because a cake has a lot of chocolate shouldn’t make it overly sweet. The key is to use high-quality dark chocolate chips for the banana bread and baking dark chocolate for the ganache.
For a gluten-free version, as this cake has so little flour, this can be substituted with gluten-free flour or ground almonds.
If you’re looking for a quick showstopper to please your senses, this cake is an amazing weekend bake and perfect for breakfast, packed lunches, and picnics. Enjoy!
BANANA BREAD WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS RECIPE | 1-MINUTE VIDEO
BANANA BREAD WITH CHOCOLATE CHIPS INGREDIENTS:
To make this banana bread with chocolate chips recipe, you will need:
- Cocoa powder: For a full rich chocolate flavor and dark color.
- Boiling water: We will use a bit of boiling water to mix with the cocoa powder.
- Bananas: There’s no banana bread without bananas, right? For this recipe we will need overripe mashed bananas.
- Eggs, baking soda, and bicarbonate soda: Eggs naturally hold everything together and help create a smooth batter with volume and texture.
- Butter: Melted butter, or else it will not mix properly with the wet ingredients.
- Flour: I typically use all-purpose flour for this classic recipe, but white whole wheat flour can work too.
- Sugar: For this recipe, I use brown sugar.
- Chocolate chips: I used good quality dark chocolate chips. They’re not overly sweet and they bake stable to retain their shape
- Spices and vanilla extract: We will use ground mixed spices. Feel free to adjust the spice proportions to your taste.
- Salt: To bring out all of the delicious flavors.
- Dark chocolate: I use baking chocolate with 54% cocoa solids. Unlike confectionery chocolate, baking chocolate melts smoothly and maintains a rich chocolate flavor.
- Heavy cream: To make the chocolate ganache.
